Seattle Mini Session: Are They Right for Your Family?
Every October, I get the same question from parents: "Are mini sessions actually worth it, or should we just do a full session?"
Here's my honest answer. If you want a beautiful family photo for your holiday card, and you want it without a whole production, a mini session is one of the best things you can book.
I'm Sandra Coan, and I've been photographing Seattle families for 27 years from my studio in Greenwood. Here's everything you need to know about my 2026 Fall Mini Sessions.
What is a holiday mini session?
A mini session is a short, simple portrait session. Mine are 15 minutes long and happen in my studio at 310 NW 85th St in Greenwood, right on the Ballard border.
You come in, we make some pictures, and you're back out the door before anyone has a meltdown. That's the whole point.
Why Seattle families love mini sessions
They're perfect for holiday cards. If you've been meaning to get a real family photo for your card (not another blurry phone selfie), this is your moment.
They're only 15 minutes. Little kids have about 15 good minutes in them. A mini works with that instead of against it.
They're easy. No location scouting, no wondering if it'll rain. Seattle in November is Seattle in November, and my minis are in a studio, so no matter what it’s doing outside, we’ll be warm, dry and cozy.
You get real family photos. Yes, minis are great for getting an image for your Holiday card. But minis are also a great way to get in a family photo before the another year passes and the kids get even bigger.
