Most of what I do is very traditional. I work in studio. I use artificial lighting. And I shoot exclusively on film.⁣ .⁣ This is what I've done for years.⁣ .⁣ Early in my career however, I was a little embarrassed about being traditional. . I mean… what I do is different. You login to instagram and it’s lifestyle work, which is beautiful, but not me… and honestly, that used to mess with my head a little.⁣ ⁣ So instead of just embracing what I love, I chased the trends. I tried to be the kind of photographer that I thought I "should" be instead of just being the photographer that I am. .⁣ ⁣ And years of chasing the trends just about ruined photography for me. ⁣ ⁣ I got to the point where I hated my job. It felt like "work". And not in a good way.⁣ .⁣ So I stopped. I stopped doing what I thought I "should" do and decided to do what I'm drawn to.⁣ ⁣ I embraced being in the studio photographer and I learned to create my own light using strobes and flash in a way that looked soft and natural.⁣ ⁣ And that decision changed everything for me….⁣ .⁣ Now I know that's the secret to building a profitable business you love, is doing what you love.⁣ .⁣ Are you doing what you love?
