Earlier this year, my husband Peter and I decided to give the Whole 30 a try. We had heard amazing things about it and had seen many friends have fantastic results.
They say in the program that if you give it 30 days it will change your life.... and boy did it!
Not only did we both look and feel better by the end, but we were actually healthier. My cholesterol dropped by 33 points and Peter's triglyceride levels came down over 200 points!
For us, the benefits of this program far out weigh the inconvenience of it (because let me tell you, it is super inconvenient). And so, we've decided to keep it going, choosing to see it more as a lifestyle now than as a diet.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Whole 30, the basics are this: no dairy, grains, legumes, sugar (of any kind) or alcohol for 30 days. You can eat all of the meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit and healthy fat that you want... but that is it. It's kind of brutal.
The first two weeks of the program were a hard! We experienced everything they said we would; headaches, grumpiness, cravings.... oh the cravings! I had dreams about drinking wine every night for about two weeks, no joke.
One of the things that helped us make it through is the fact that I love to eat and l love to cook. So, I thought this would be a fun place for me to share some of my Whole 30 recipes and maybe inspire some of you to give it a try.
Now, it should be noted, I am not a chef, nor am I a food photographer. But I'll do my best to post good recipes and pretty pictures. I hope you find it helpful.
